Read Quranic Arabic Without Transliteration
You no longer need English letters to follow a verse. You can look at the Arabic text, sound it out correctly and read it directly from the page.
Live 1-to-1 · Private Classes
Never read Arabic before? Quran House runs online Quran classes for beginners across the UK, made for adults and children who don't yet know the Arabic alphabet. You start with the shape and sound of each letter and build your reading step by step, with no need for transliteration.
Lessons are booked in UK time, so you can learn after school, after work or at weekends without changing your routine. Your tutor works with you one-to-one, taking you from recognising letters to reading short surahs and Al-Fatihah on your own.
A clear route, not random lessons
Most beginners in the UK grew up reading only English, so the letters of the Quran can look unfamiliar at first. Lessons start with the shape and sound of each Arabic letter, then build step by step towards joined words, short phrases and full verses. Your tutor checks every sound as you go, so you learn correct pronunciation from the beginning instead of fixing bad habits later. By the time you reach the Mushaf, reading feels familiar rather than daunting.
Everything in online Quran classes for beginners UK is explained in clear English, and you practise each new rule with your tutor straight away. Parent, university student or new Muslim, you move forward when your reading is steady, not on a fixed timetable.
Connected curriculum
Each stage adds one reading skill at a time, so you never face a full page of text before you are ready for it.
You start with the letters, learning how each one looks and how it is pronounced. Your tutor spends extra time on sounds English doesn't have, such as ع and ح, so you get them right early.
Arabic letters change shape at the start, middle and end of a word. You practise recognising these forms until joined text stops looking like one unbroken line.
These small marks above and below the letters tell you which vowel to say. Once you know them, you can read your first syllables and simple words aloud.
Next come the marks that stop a sound, double a letter or add an "n" ending. With these, you can read longer words exactly as they are written in the Mushaf.
You learn how alif, waw and yaa lengthen a vowel, and how long to hold each one. At this stage your reading starts to sound like recitation rather than spelling out letters.
Using a structured Qaida, you move from single words to short phrases taken from the Quran. Your tutor listens to every line and corrects mistakes before they become habits.
You learn the basics of correct pronunciation, including where each letter comes from in the mouth. You learn the rules by reading them aloud, not by memorising long lists.
The last stage puts everything together with Surah Al-Fatihah and short surahs from Juz Amma. By the end, you can recite them correctly in salah and keep reading on your own.
Course outcomes
By the end of our online Quran classes for beginners, Arabic script becomes something you can read on your own.
You no longer need English letters to follow a verse. You can look at the Arabic text, sound it out correctly and read it directly from the page.
Your tutor has checked your pronunciation of the surahs you use every day. You can pray knowing each word is recited the way it should be.
Vowel lengths, doubled letters and stops become part of how you read. You notice these rules on the page and apply them without being reminded.
With the foundations in place, you are ready to read from a standard Mushaf. From there, you can continue into Tajweed, fluent reading or memorisation.

How a class runs
Every session follows the same clear rhythm, so learners always know what comes next.
You read back the letters or words from last time. This shows your tutor what has stuck and what needs another look.
Your tutor introduces a single new step, such as a vowel mark or letter form. Keeping it to one new step stops you from feeling overwhelmed.
You read practice lines aloud while your tutor listens closely. Pronunciation slips are corrected on the spot, before they turn into habits.
The lesson ends with a quick summary of what you covered. You get a small reading task to practise at home before the next session.
Every session ends with a reading skill you didn't have when you logged in, whether that's a new letter, a vowel mark or a full phrase. Over the weeks, these small steps add up until you can open the Mushaf and read it yourself.
Why Quran House
Qualified teachers, a connected route and progress families can see.
Classes are arranged in GMT and BST, so they fit around school runs, work shifts and weekend plans. You pick the slots that suit your week.
Every rule and letter is explained in plain English, with no assumed knowledge of Arabic. You always understand why a word is read the way it is.
Your tutor focuses only on your reading for the whole lesson. Mistakes are spotted and fixed right away instead of going unnoticed in a group.
Many adult learners feel shy about starting from the alphabet. Tutors keep lessons relaxed and encouraging, so you can ask anything without feeling judged.
Parents and children can each have their own beginner sessions at times that suit the household. Everyone learns at their own level without holding anyone else back.
All you need is a laptop, tablet or phone and an internet connection. There's no travel to a local mosque or centre, so fitting in regular practice is easier.

I had been to a lot of Quran classes before, but they just weren't a good fit for me until I found this Quran Academy, which turned out to be the best one I could ever ask for.
