Reading Any Page of the Mushaf Independently
You will open the Mushaf at any page and read it without relying on transliteration. Every letter, vowel, and sign will be recognised on sight, allowing you to recite confidently during Salah.
Live 1-to-1 · Private Classes
Many adults quietly wish they could open the Mushaf and read without hesitation. If you want to learn to read the Quran at your own pace, Quran House offers patient, private lessons for adult learners at any level.
Our qualified teachers guide you through one-to-one live classes on Zoom or Skype, scheduled around your local time zone and working week. Children and adults both learn with us, so parents can study alongside their families.
A clear route, not random lessons
Quran House is an online Quran academy helping learners worldwide read, recite, and understand the Quran with confidence. Our Quran Reading Course for adults follows a clear structure, beginning with the Noorani Qaida and moving toward fluent Mushaf reading.
Online learning suits adults because it removes commuting, fixed mosque timetables, and the discomfort of learning beside children. You study privately from home, with lessons tailored to your pace, your goals, and the hours left after work and family.
Connected curriculum
Your lessons in the Quran Reading Course start from the level you actually have today, whether that means no Arabic at all or rusty reading from childhood. Each area below builds directly on the previous one.
You begin with the 28 Arabic letters, learning how each one changes shape at the start, middle, and end of a word. This stage suits complete beginners and reverts who have never read Arabic script.
Letters such as ع, ح, ق, and ض have no English equivalent, so many adults replace them with familiar sounds. Your teacher isolates each articulation point and drills it until your pronunciation feels natural.
This stage often decides how clear your recitation sounds for years, so we give it patient attention rather than rushing ahead. Adults who learned incorrectly as children usually benefit most from this careful correction.
You learn Fathah, Kasrah, and Dammah, followed by the doubled Tanween endings. Here letters start turning into readable syllables, and most adults feel a real sense of progress, Alhamdulillah, within these early lessons.
Next you practise Sukun and Shaddah, which control where a sound stops or doubles. You then combine letters into complete words, building the smooth reading rhythm needed before you move into the Mushaf.
You learn when to lengthen a vowel using Alif, Waw, and Ya, and how long each extension should last. Getting Madd right early prevents one of the most common errors adult beginners make.
You study the Waqf symbols printed above the lines, learning where to pause, where to continue, and how to restart after taking a breath. This protects the meaning of each verse as you read aloud.
Once your reading is steady, you apply foundational rules such as Noon Sakinah, Meem Sakinah, and Qalqalah. Learners wanting deeper study can continue into Tajweed for Adults or Basic Tajweed for Non-Arabic Speakers.
Finally, you move from the Qaida into the Mushaf itself, usually starting with short Surahs from Juz Amma. Your teacher then extends your reading page by page until longer passages feel manageable and confident.
Course outcomes
These outcomes reflect what adult students reach through regular classes and daily practice, with goals adjusted by your teacher to match your pace.
You will open the Mushaf at any page and read it without relying on transliteration. Every letter, vowel, and sign will be recognised on sight, allowing you to recite confidently during Salah.
You will clearly distinguish similar sounds such as ح and ه, or ق and ك. This precision protects the meaning of verses, since changing a single letter can alter what a word actually says.
You will apply Noon Sakinah, Meem Sakinah, Madd, and Qalqalah naturally rather than mechanically. Your recitation will sound measured and correct, following the direct Quranic instruction given to the Prophet ﷺ:
You will leave with a realistic routine, such as reading a set number of pages daily, plus the skills to keep improving. Many students then begin our Complete Quran Reading (Khatma) Program.
Inside a real lesson
Short class snippets show how the teacher explains, listens, corrects and confirms progress.
How a class runs
Every session follows the same clear rhythm, so learners always know what comes next.
Your teacher begins by listening to you read the previous lesson aloud. This quick Muraja'ah shows what has settled and what needs reinforcing before anything new is introduced.
Your teacher explains the new letters, rule, or page, reads it aloud first, and then asks you to repeat. You read slowly, line by line, while your teacher listens closely.
Mistakes are corrected gently and immediately, with extra repetition on any letter that causes difficulty. This is where challenging sounds like ع and ض gradually become accurate and comfortable.
You receive a short practice task for the days before your next class. You can also share questions or concerns, and your teacher adjusts upcoming lessons to suit your needs.
You leave each session in the Quran Reading for Adults Course with one new skill practised correctly, specific notes on your weaker letters, and a clear revision task. Small, steady gains like these add up to genuine fluency over the following months.
Why Quran House
Whether you live in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, the Gulf, or Europe, lessons are scheduled in your own time zone. Early mornings, lunch breaks, and late evenings are all possible options.
If your weekdays are full with work and school runs, weekend classes let you learn without pressure. Many adults combine one weekday lesson with one weekend lesson to keep their momentum steady.
Sisters can learn with qualified female teachers and brothers with male teachers, keeping every lesson comfortable. Our team includes Egyptian and Al-Azhar-educated instructors experienced in teaching non-Arabic speakers.
Many adults feel uneasy reading as beginners in front of others. One-to-one classes give you a private, judgement-free space where you can make mistakes, ask basic questions, and repeat lessons freely.
Adults often want to understand why a rule exists, not just memorise it. Our curriculum explains the reasoning behind each step, and certificates of completion recognise your progress as you advance.
Your teacher records what you covered, where you struggled, and what comes next. This steady feedback keeps you accountable and shows clear evidence of improvement, even during your busiest months.
