How to Divide the Manzils of the Qur’an?

The manzils of the Quran can be divided into the 7 manzils. It was narrated from the Companions that they used to divide it by surahs, and Imam Ibn Taymiyyah agreed with them their opinion. Some supported the division by verses, which is what happened during the era of Hajjaj Ibn Yusuf.

The point is that Manzil with surahs is better, as Ibn Taymiyyah said, as Manzil with surahs is better than Manzil with verses, in which the reader sometimes stops at positions related to what follows it, and begins with verses that have a meaningful connection with what comes before it.

You could divide the 7 manzils as follows. The seven manzils are as follows

  • From Surat Al-Fatihah to Surat Al-Nisa
  • From Surat Al-Ma’idah to Surat Al-Tawbah
  • From Surat Yunus to Surat An-Nahl
  • From Surat Al-Isra to Surat Al-Furqan
  • From Surat Al-Shu’ara’ to Surat Yassin
